Folks, I just received the good news that Jr. Martin and his great Cajun Band will be in attendance at our next session on Aug. 6th in Gulfport, Mississippi. The Deep South Steel Guitar Assoc. will be celebrating a "Louisiana Appreciation Day" in honor of all those great players, friends and fans from that fair state.
The VFW on Dedeaux Road will be the place. Music will start at 11:00 AM until the cows come home. And talking about cows-another great picker, Bob Saxton, will be one of our staff musicians. I heard him sing the "Milk Cow Blues" last Sunday at our annual Stafford reunion and I thought I was in Texas listening to those great Western Swing Bands. Bob can sing as good as he plays-and there is none better. Big times ahead. Plan early folks.
Buck Grantham has confirmed also. WOW-Jr. and Buck on the same stage is bound to lead to some great music all afternoon. And this is just the beginning. Aug 6th, Gulfport, Ms. will be a happening place then. See you there.

I agree with J. PARKER. Our friends from Louisiana should also make this a good steel show on Aug.6th. I'll be coming down on the 6th with my D-10 Carter. May bring my D-8 National if I decide to do a tribute to Little Roy Wiggins. Hadn't really decided yet but will probably do a set with Webb Pierce and George Morgan songs. Hope to see everybody there.

Thanks guys, we really appreciate all this support.
And Gary Miles will be another great player from Louisiana we will get to honor and show our appreciation. Gary has asked that we make sure that Bob Saxton will be on his program as a special program is in the works from Gary.
And we will have Bob Saxton give us a session also to break up the monotony of all these great steel guitarist.
Coupling all this with the Jr. Martin group in the middle of the afternoon will be a delightful show and music for all tastes. Happy July 4th to all. See you on the 6th of August.

My Oh My - you boys are at it again! What a show this will be and such temptation for this midwestern girl. Unfortunately I'm not sure I could make that drive this go around (I have to be in Iowa City on 8/7/05.) May have to check into flying as I wouldn't want to miss another weekend in the South!

Lana, we have a really nice airport here in Gulfport and we can meet you at the gate and loan you an auto to see the beach sites before and after our show...let us know.
And I have just received confirmation that Gary Granger will be on our program. Met Gary at Jr. Martin's jam on the earlier Tuesday jam at his Cajun Accordian factory. Gary was sitting in the back of the band grouping and my neck is still cramped from turning around to watch and listen more closely to this guitar player. Lots of class here folks and it looks like we will have Gary do his own thing just as he likes to do.(Maybe Gary will bring his steel guitar too-hint, hint, Gary).
With Gary, Bob Saxton, Doc Hearl in the building all afternoon, us steel pickers will probably have the back seat and thats fine with me..lol
Gary Miles will be doing his own thing also and that is fine with everyone.
Our Louisiana Appreciation Day is really gearing up to be a great fun time for all.
My sister, Gladys, learned quite well how to make seafood gumbo from my Dad's sister Gladys- and it is the best in this town or any other town. She has agreed to make a larg vat of this delicacy and donate it to our cause of just being hungry for gumbo. Have to please these Louisiana pickers somehow.
August 6, 11:00 AM (Saturday) is show time folks. Would love to see all of you there.
Thanks,

Bill Stafford
