I'll be playing pedal steel for an hour on the radio tomorrow (Wednesday, May 19th) starting at 1 pm EDT. 1370 AM if you live near Bennington, VT, www.wbtnam.org if you do not.

What we play is the host's choice -- he (David Lively) plays guitar and sings -- but I'll be voting for traditional country myself...

Oh it was awful. Dreadful. Painful. I normally say yes to all musical proposals, but I'm not sure I will do this radio show another time. A thousand things went wrong, nothing that I know of went right. Live unrehearsed is such a gamble; when it is good it is oh so good; when it is bad it can be REALLY bad. I have done two live radio shows with this gentleman before and they both were good enough, but yesterday was one new gray hair every ten seconds. I was sick and not playing well; may it rest in peace. I don't blame anyone -- my host is a good musician, and I am a good musician, but live music is like surfing -- sometimes you ride the wave and sometimes you get a mouthful of sand. Luckily, probably hardly anyone was listening. The lesson for me? Live and learn, and practice some more...
