Just got word from Doyle Mitchell the next meeting of the West Texas Steel Guitar Association will be held Sunday May 23 at 2 PM in the Old Opry House in Colorado City, Texas. Bring your guitars and amps and participate at your leisure. Lots of good people there. Also if you have some music equipment you want to sell, swap, or give away we have plenty of room backstage. We only ask you put a price somewhere on what you bring. Sure would like to have a big turnout. We had a ball at the last meeting so c'mon out and enjoy yourselves. I'll post directions later.

Gonna' push it up to the top. Sure do want to see a bunch of steel guitars on the stage this Sunday. How 'bout you folks from San Angelo and Abilene; you coming? Look forward to seeing you guys/gals. Don't forget there's plenty room for our little "swap shop". If you have some extra items you want to pass on you're welcome to bring it. See'ya!!! Surprised Surprised

Fred, I plan to be there. I sent out emails to the usual suspects, but some of them have failed to deliver. Doyle has the addresses we got at the last meeting. Any of you guys seeing this announcement please help us pass it around not just to steel players, but to anyone who likes good country music. Our notice is a little short on this one, but it just worked out that way.
Junior Knight, will you be passing by on I20 this particular Sunday?

Justin Trevino dropped in to the opry last night to say hello and sang a few with us. he really wanted to come to the wtsga meeting but had a gig to do Sunday afternoon, he said he would like to be at the next one if anyway possible. Justin is one great bass man and a great singer and loves the steel guitar.

Shady we really had a good time last night at the Ole Opry House. You and Debbie are doing such a great job promoting Real Country Music and giving the young people a chance to show their wares. Justin T. really puts his heart into his songs, and as you know I spent quite a bit of time with him. He's for darn sure REAL. Hope we have a good turn out Sunday for the get together. Havent' heard from the boys in Angelo or Abilene yet. C'mon folks we need the participation.

We got this puppy done and I had a great time. It looked a while like we were going to be short a backup band, but the good Lord was lookin out for us and we had a great backup band put together from people that came to assist individual players and people that had come to watch. Larry Toliver, Randall Palmore and myself hopefully entertained them. I know we enjoyed it. Thanks to Doyle and Debbie Mitchell and thanks to Fred and Dovie for videoing again. (Dovie, edit my playing carefully)

Danny, it was touch and go for a bit, but the sun started shining again. Man for a put together band this one was pretty darn tight. We had players that I'd never met and they had not even met each other, but the music was some of the best we've ever had. Shady and Debbie did a great job of organizing and their vocals kinda' topped everything. Randall Palmore and his D-10 Zum (BTW every steel on the stage was a Zum) along with his vocals was once again outstanding. Danny Letz finally started singing and we found out he's been cheating the audience by not doing so. Good job Danny. Larry Tolivar arrived a bit late but he added to the show tremendously. Good singer and tremendous player. The band was made up of Linda Mathis, drummer; George Harvick, bass (a good 'un), and John Caldwell, lead and rhythm guitar; and a new guy on fiddle Wendell Smith. What a show. The pics are being loaded up now and Dovie managed to video tape the entire show and it will be put on you tube. We'll post the site as soon as she edits it. Not a big turnout but a heck of a good time. Thanks Doyle and Debbie for the hospitality. Let's do it again sometime.

Fred, I was struggling to hold my own playin steel with those two, so I thought I'd try singing and see if I did any better. Randall and I both own other brands of steels we like, but the Zums are pretty hard to beat. It all has to do with the man who makes them. Tell Dovie to edit out as many of the clams I baked as she can. (may not leave much footage)

Danny, she's been all day trying to get the tapes, there were 3 of them, edited and ready for utube. the only edit she's doing is taking out the dead time so podnuh if you 'scrambled one' it'll be there. Laughing Laughing It takes a lot of time to do all that I can tell you. I think she's contemplating making dvd's also. Don't know for sure.
