I built a Fender amp cabinet clone to house a Fender FM100H Head and a 12" Emminence Neo speaker. The pictures are the result.

I originally had a Crate Power Block and a custom cabinet I built for the 12" Emminence speaker (the cabinet just sold on the forum). As the Fender FM100H is longer than the speaker cabinet I had, I decided to just build a new cabinet for the head and the speaker. The weight of the unit is 34lbs.

Jack,

Nice work! What amp (mass produced) would you say is the closest to the tone of your project?

Jeff, this is a solid state amp. The speaker is an Eminence "Tonker Lite" (neodymium magnet ) that is sold as good for country, blues, etc.

I have a Tele and an Epiphone Les Paul that I'll be using with it. Although it is a solid state Fender amp it still has the "Fenderish" sound. I can get the old Don Rich Tele sound from it and also a more mellow sound with the Les Paul.

The reverb is a 3 spring unit and also has the traditional Fender reverb sound.

I don't know which "mass produced" amp would be closest but as it has the Fender sound obviously one of the Fenders.

Hi Jack, Good job building this amp. I had one of the Fender FM amps and just recently sold it. They sure have all of the power you need. I never put my steel through it, but always used it for my telecaster lead work. I could never dial out the high thin sound and keep my lower string sound that I wanted, but they sure are a great amp. Your amp looks like it was store bought, as we used to say. Larry

Update. I tried the amp with my Franklin today and got a fairly decent sound. It's not my Nashville 112, but it would do if needed. On the "clean" channel I'm getting almost a Fender Steel King sound, comparing it to Fred Thompson's sound that he gets with his Steel King at our club jams.

As this amp has a second channel for "overdrive" but can be set clean, this could be used for both steel and lead guitar by just switching channels.

Good job Jack, I have an FM100 head that I run through a 2-12 cabinet with EVM12S speakers. I also changed out the little 3 spring reverb tank for a 4 series accutronics. It sure made it fuller sounding. I'm just not a fan of the 8 series tanks!

What is the part number of that 4 series? I may consider that some day.

Thanks, I'll keep this number in case I want a better reverb.
