I have been using D'daddario Chromes (flat wounds)on my lap steels as I love the smoothness, it's like playing with strings coated with WD-40!!!!
I used to be able locally to purchase "singles" in the gauges that I use, but nobody seems to be stocking singles any more.
My first question is - Does anybody have a suggestion/recommendation for an alternate brand?
OR
Is there some supplier out there where I can buy 4 each of singles in 32, 38, 45 and 56 gauges???? (45 can be substituted with a 44, it just happenes that D"daddario offer only the 45)

Thanks David, that's all I really needed to know. I'm tired of hassling with our local stores over not being able to purchase a bunch of singles all in the same brand.
Maybe I'm too fussy (or too old), but to me different strings have a different colour of sound, mellow or bright.

I use SIT semi-flat nickel strings from juststrings.com and they're peachy. I buy an 8 string set, take out the 6 I want and it's still cheaper than the chromes. |

Hi AJ and thanks for that response. I was browsing the SIT sets and thinking the same thing. I'm glad you confirmed my thoughts on that.
