SO the "Music Director" of the local country station,
(we are talking large major market FM HD internet a major corporate BEASLEY BROADCASTING owned station here! )
and he was chattering about the award Billy Curringtons' "That's How Country Boys' Roll" and the tune etc... and he casually mentioned that the tune mentions George Jones, and he never heard a Jones tune before... need I say more???
and that's the way it is

And you'd draw equally blank, big-eyed stares if you used words like "Possum", "The Chief", "Big-E" etc, etc, etc.
Like you say - "and that's the way it is" - sadly.

Have'nt heard any [COUNTRY] radio in awhile around here. The last time I heard a country artist in this area was maybe 15 years ago. One of the top DJ'S around here [have known him for years] started an hour show on Fri. AM playing nothing but Hank,ET,Patsy,Webb,Hank Snow, etc,He told me his switchboard was lighting up like a Christmas tree with requests, Lasted 2 0r 3 weeks before the station pulled the plug on it. Not absolutely sure about this but think this was when Clear Channel bought the station. YOU BETCHA,DYK?BC. _________________ Hard headed, opinionated old geezer. BAMA CHARLIE. GOD BLESS AMERICA. I don't have to worry about this, the last time I checked there were no REAL Country stations on my radio, maybe it's broken !

Floyd told Andy that Calvin said it, but Andy said "no Floyd, Calvin Coolidge didn't say everything". Calvin said "I chose not to run" Floyd said "I know he must have said something or he never would have got to be president".
Everybody complains about country music, but nobody does anything about it. Why??? Because there is nothing we can do. Not enough loyal fans to stick up for it. Too many fans that go along with which ever way the wind blows......... all in the name of progression and liking all kinds of music. Play what you want and listen to what you want, but please don't label everything that comes along country when it's not. If traditional country is not popular, then let it die with some dignity, don't steal the name in the process.
I support the Texas country guys with my money, that's about all I know to do. If they can make a living at it, they'll keep producing some stuff for us to listen too. It won't come free any longer. If you want free, turn your FM radio on. |

I bought a new ram dually a year ago and it came with a year of free satellite radio,i just re-newed my subscription because of 2 stations on xm.Willies place and roadhouse. Both of these channels play the real deal,I also have directv which offered the same channels until recently, the replacements on directv aren't bad but not as good as willies place or road house. What i like about the sattelite in my truck is that i do a lot of rv travelling and the same channel plays no matter where you are. _________________ fessenden d10,nashville 112,nashville 1000,peavey session 500,transtubefex,goodrich steeldriver 111,Gibson hound dog dobro,Appalacian resonator guitar.Marshall AS50D acoustic amp,Fishman Jerry Douglas imaging pedal. |

Why are you worried about what mainstream radio stations play? If you want to hear country music you like, buy cds, download files, or listen to satellite or Internet radio.
I gave up on commercial radio 30 years ago and I don't miss it one bit. _________________ Sho-Bud Pro III + Marshall JMP 2204 half stack = good grind! |

Funny thing about mainstream radio, if everyone who complained about not hearing someone on the radio, like George Jones, actually went out and bought the latest George Jone CD, then mainstream radio would start playing George Jones. _________________ http://www.oldbluesound.com/about.htm

Twenty-four hours of conservative Republicans singing about love of their pick-up trucks. Only Democrats in country music are Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, they sing about emotions....not things. |

WOW, that may be one of the most absurd things I've ever read.
I don't think there is any partisan correlation between materialism and emotional songs.
Toby Kieth writes and sings some of the most materialistic songs I've ever heard on the radio, and he constantly claims to be a Democrat.
So it ain't about politics!!!!!!!!!!!!! _________________ http://www.oldbluesound.com/about.htm

The only way to get good radio is to pay for it. I have Sirius XM satellite radio in my car now. Willie's Place plays all the stuff we like to hear. This morning I heard George Morgan "Candy Kisses". You can't beat that.
Forget "mainstream radio" - they just don't play our music anymore. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

"Candy Kisses" sounds like bubble gum pop. Country radio still plays traditional country here in Nashville. |
