Just got home from three days performing and teaching at the 2nd Annual Lone Star Uke Fest in Dallas, Texas.

Here's a video of a 2 AM jam in the hotel lobby. Notice how wide awake and perky I look!

My 1954 Fender Champion through my new Roland AC-33 amp (only 10 lbs.)

Playing with me are Ken Middleton from the UK and the uke virtuoso Kimo Hussey from Oahu.

We play 'Yellow Bird' and Buddy Hollie's 'Everyday'.

Absolutely delightful, Gerald - thanks for posting this.

What tuning are you using? I'm not sufficiently advanced to be able to recognize them yet...

Hi,

Nice music as usual. Please tell us more about the Roland A33. How does it compare to the other portable amps you have used?

Thanks.

Bob

The AC-33 only weighs 10 lbs. with batteries. It runs on 8 AA batteries (10 hours life) or AC. It is a dedicated acoustic instrument amp - very clean. It sounds great with my piezo equipped instruments (uke, Yamaha silent guitar). For steel I wish it had a gain (pre-amp drive) control to add a bit of dirt to the sound, but I can easily live without this.

My one complaint is the grill covering. It's a cloth/mesh type of covering. I much prefer the metal grill found on the microcube and cube street - makes more sense for travel.
