This steel guitar show was a wonderful event for steel players and anyone that loves steel guitar music. A big thank you to Bill Stafford for putting on a great show. There were players from just about everywhere playing all kinds and brands of guitars. Each show I get a chance to meet new players as well as making new friends. This show was no exception. Even though I had to leave a little early to play Saturday night I still enjoyed the show and getting to meet and talk steel with several people. Special thanks to John and Jean Hughey, Joe Wright, Roy Ayers and Bob Saxton for playing guitar on my set. I won't try to name everybody because I'd probably forget somebody. But to everyone that either attended or played on the show I want to take this opportunity to say "Thank You" for supporting steel guitar and its many players. A final word in closing, a special thanks to R.J. Buras for the Friday night jam session at Lakeside fish house. This was a good night followed by a wonderful day of some of the best music I've ever heard. A job well done in Picayune on Friday as well as Gulfport on Saturday! |

Special thanks to Dewitt "Scotty" Scott and his family for attending the show also. It was an honor to meet someone that has done so much for steel guitar and the players over the years. Thanks Scotty and also thanks for signing my Conway Twitty book along with Roy Ayers and John and Jean Hughey. |

Billy: It was an awesome day and full of friends and music! Bill did an excellent job of putting it all together. We are proud and blessed to have friends like Bill and Betty! We are also blessed to have seen a lot of our old friends in the music world and meet some new ones like you. Billy, you are a great person. Your kind words to Roy meant to much to both of us. We hope to see you again soon. Are you going to St. Louis this year? Stay in touch. Laurie |

Thank you for the kind words Laurie. I really enjoy spending time with you and Roy. Anyone that loves steel guitar the way I do really needs to just sit down and talk with Roy Ayers as well as Bill Stafford. Hey Bill, thanks, I walked out Saturday forgot the little seat. I bought it off ebay for 10.00 to use when I play "Little Bit". That's the name everybody calls the National D-8. I'll send you a money order for the shipping cost. I was worried about "Little Bits" seat! Ha! |

Billy,
Bill Stafford is very good at packing and shipping lost seats. A couple of years ago I left the folding bench I use with my steel, and Bill packed and shipped it right away. (The reason I use a bench instead of a pack-a-sesat like everone else is that when I want to go uo to "Hughey Land" I can slide my posterior over to the right without falling off of the seat.)
It was good to visit with you and we hope to see you again real soon.

Hey R.J., it was a good show. You really play a major role in these shows. Your set was a good one also. Had that Excel U-12 talking. I just wish I had joined the DSSGA sooner. I've really met a lot of new players and friends. Here's to you my friend! Looking foward to a long and enduring friendship with all of the people involved on the coast. Thanks for the kind words in the post also. |
