Well, this is somewhat to do with steel guitar since I'll be playing steel there frequently with the Record Family Band.
My niece, DeeDee Record, officially signed papers the other day and has renamed it "The Silver Spur". This is on rt. 121 in Mechanic Falls, Maine.
Some of you may have seen DeeDee at a few of the steel shows. She's that nice looking blond that sometimes accompanys me at the shows. You also may have seen her hanging around David Wrights booth. (grin) She also plays bass in our band.
So, if any of you get to Maine this summer, and like real Country music, be sure to come check us out. Meanwhile, she has started a website you can visit at www.thesilverspurclub.com
Let's wish her lots of luck and lots of business to help pay that mortgage. (she reads this forum regularly)

I consider myself very fortuate to have become friends w/ the Record Family. I know in the past I have done my fair share of kidding with Deedee and "Uncle Merle". but for the "record", I'd like to extend my Best Wishes to Deedee and the family, for much success in her new endeavor. These are the nicest people on earth..honest, hard working folkes..and they will do whatever it takes to make this work..
Best of Luck!..and much success from all of us in the music business. |

Thanks to Uncle Merle (you're the best) and to everyone who has sent their good wishes!! I do have to say regardless of if he IS my Uncle, he's one of the best steel players around. If you haven't heard him play you're missing out! I'm very excited about the new dance hall. I think it's a PERFECT place for a steel show!! what do you think? Everyone should travel to Maine at LEAST once right? Dick, thank you for your kind words! You're a great friend and bass teacher...one lesson 3 1/2 years ago and I was ready to go! You're awesome! Mike, it was great to see you in Texas! Those Peavy basses sounded AWESOME! I loved playing them, thanks. Oh yeah, and Biker Boy......well, what can I say......you're alright for a city boy! !!!! |

Thanks Gary for your nice comments! I do agree, Uncle Merle is one great guy! The best! You definately need to get Dickie Lee to come up here! It'd be a GREAT road trip! From what my Uncle tells me you play a pretty mean bass too, that's great! We'll definately get together and jam when you come up to the hall. Thanks again!!! |

If anyone is in the Mechanic Falls, Maine area our band "The Record Family" will be at my club (The Silver Spur) this Saturday. We've got one heck of a good steel player (aka:Uncle Merle) and we play the good old traditional country. Everyone is sure to have a good time. If you're in the area stop on by! |
