My wife and I are bound for Ireland again! We'll be there from June 16th to July 6th and be based in Kilfenora, County Clare.

I'll be sitting in with Paddy Keenan (www.paddykeenan.com) and Tommy O'Sullivan (www.tommyosullivan.net) on parts of their Irish mini-tour. The dates are posted on Paddy's site. I may even try to do all seven gigs.

I played with them both in San Francisco a while back and it was a total delight. I played my 6-string National Model D resonator guitar with them then, but this time I'm taking my 8-string Model D. I'm just now starting to feel comfortable with the new tuning (D A D F# A D E F#) and not mistake one string for another.

I'm also bringing my PSG to Ireland, but I doubt that I'll play that on stage with Paddy and Tommy. However, I'll most likely be doing a couple of solo gigs in the west of Ireland on PSG and reso.

Hi Pete, Hope we can meet up again while you are in Ireland. Look up Davy Spillane while you are here. He is in Co.Claire, and recently bought a beautiful Fender-Sho-Bud pedal steel from me. From Irish pipes to pedal steel guitar, now thats what I call versitile. Have you any plans to meet up with Richard or Phil?........Ted

Hey, Ted. I'm the one who told Davy about the Fender Sho-Bud you had for sale. It's the one I saw at the Irish Steel Guitar Association shindig last October. I hope to be recording a couple of tunes with Davy when I'm there. Yeah, Davy can take up steel, but you won't find me takin' up pipes. As sweet as the Irish pipes are, it's more of a wrestling match than pedal steel. I played with one piper in County Clare, and I was asking about his set (it was a Taylor set made in Philadelphia in 1870) and he asked if I played pipes. I said, "No, it scares me." He grinned, nodded his head, smiled a wise smile, and said, "Stay scared."

It wouldn't feel like a complete trip if I didn't visit Richard and Phil.

Mark, I'm jealous of all the folks like you who are on the East Coast. I have to travel all the way across the U S and A before I can undertake to start to begin to commence to travel across the Atlantic.

Giving myself a bump. It's coming up next week and I'd love to meet more PSG and resonator guitar players in Ireland.
