I thought I had posted this but I guess it didn't take. In 1976 I concieved the idea of putting several steel guitar player's in a studio and letting them jam on a few numbers. The steel players.....Buddy Emmons, Speedy West, Jimmy Day, Julian Tharpe, Doug Jernigan, Lloyd Green, Curly Chalker, Reece Anderson and Hal Rugg. That's nine Hall Of Famers in the same studio at the same time sitting in a circle. Add guitarist Jimmy Bryant, sax player Johnny Gore, bassist Henry Strylecki and legendary drummer Louie Bellson and let em' go. That is exactly what they did. Three hours and five songs. This session was released, three songs and almost 45 minutes of pedal steel on. Vinyl with the initial pressing selling in just a couple week's.The album is called 'It's The First Time.'. Three song's on the new cd re-release. It's a piece of history and it is good. Mixed by Jimmy Bryant and Johnny Gore. This cd is re-mastered from the original vinyl which gives you the sound of the original. There is no other recording, that I know of, that allow's you the opportunity to hear these giants of the steel in such a setting. All the licks from the pro's. You can order this cd for 17.00 which includes shipping, from....Dave Burley, PO Box 211, Franklin, In. 46131. Ready for shipping within one week. Thanks and I hope you enjoy this historic recording.
