Not sure, but I think it depends on the year. I've had one ('40s I believe, not sure) Tonemaster that had a huge singlecoil, almost like a P90, and one Diana ('52) that had a string-through pickup ala Supros.

Steve, every Diana I've ever seen has the Supro strings-through pickup. Every Tonemaster I've ever seen has the pickup as Steinar described, though not necessarily identical -- especially in sound. I've got some spares I need to thin out if you'd like to look through 'em.
