Hello all,

I have been a big fan of steel guitar over the last 15 years or so ago and finally bought one in early '09. Lately I have been working out an arrangement for Al Green's Let's Stay Together and for some reason I feel like embarrassing myself and sharing it here Very Happy

Obviously I have some vibrato and intonation issues but I'm having fun learning:

Hope you get a kick out of the track.

thanks,

Chris

Chris, nice arrangement. R&B and soul tunes on steel make for great material and aren't done that often. I recently tried a Smokey Robinson tune on Dobro:

Keep at it. You've got a lot of the techniques down now you've gotta work on phrasing like Al Green or other R&B singers. It's similar to Indian music in the sense that many afro-American singers (and Sacred Steelers) sing or play multiple pitches with a single attack. Keep working on it. Sounds good!

Thanks guys. Thanks for taking the time to listen to it.

Don't worry Andy I am hooked and will definitely keep at it! Your soul dobro is sweet! Maybe there is something in the Massachusetts water that makes us want to play these tunes with the slide... I am pretty clueless about dobro, what is your tuning?

Standard C6th (ECAGEC) tuned down a step and a half to A6th. Easier than changing strings!
