Marc,
You could probably email Al Brisco and find out who is traveling with Ian. I love that song "Someday Soon" that he wrote.

Ian hasn't carried a full band for well over ten years at least. He works just with a guitar player and a bass player. Maybe that has changed, but I'd be surprised. |

Great artist ever since the 60's with Sylvia.
Would anyone have the steel guitar tabs for Summer Wages?

What a great song with Weldon Myrick on steel.

I have to agree with Bob. We've seen him twice in the last 10 years and he only had a guitar and bass.

Thanks for the info. I'm lucky enough to be playing the Calgary Folk Fest this summer, and was hoping to watch a real steel player while there. I had assumed that Ian Tyson's set was the right place to start. |

Joachim, the steel player on that clip was the late Ron Dann - one of Canada's finest players. This was from a 1986 reunion concert, in which Ian and Sylvia were joined by various folks, including Emmylou, Judy Collins (they did "Someday Soon" together) Linda Ronstadt (though not part of the live concert). You will notice also from this clip that Albert Lee was part of the band. What a song that is! There is another recorded version on an album of Ian's called "Cowboyography" that is also superb. |
