Johnny Bellar seems to play a bunch of 'em. He shows a nice custom-built guitar from Harry James on his website, but over the years I have seen videos of him playing a number of different guitars.

It doesn't seem to be a scenario like Jerry Douglas & Mike Auldridge only playing Beard guitars, or Rob Ickes only playing a Scheerhorn.

Out of the top resonator guitar players, Johnny seems to be one who is still sort of under the radar. Man, can he pick! Cool

He has been known to play a Fishook guitar more recently, built by luthier J.D. Myers. These are stunning guitars. Here is a video:

And here is an older video of a beautiful arrangement of Johnny playing "Shenandoah" on what appears to be a Wechter/Scheerhorn:

Hey, thanks for the info , Mark.
Would you have any idea of how much
money one could expect to pay for a
guitar of that quality ? (I have a
National tri-cone that might be looking for
a new home . . .)

Ed, I've played them all including Scheerhorn, Beard, Meredith, Schoonover and many others. My Brazilian/Spruce Fishook is at the top in my opinion. Fit and finish is as good as it gets and the tone, balance and volume will make a tear come to your eye.

Give JD a call to get the info you're looking for.
