Topic: Pedal Steel Guitar in NYC |

I'm going to be in NYC this weekend. Can anyone recommend any stores that sell pedal steels and steel accessories? I would like to try some new picks, bars, guitars and amps.
Anyone have any suggestions? |

There are none.
Guitar Center on 14th street has a Carter Starter. If you want some lap steels, Matt Uminov (sp?) carries a few on consignment but they are generally over priced. |

thats amazing - can you imagine having to lug your steel and amp and etc around NYC gigs by foot

we used to throw it all in the back of a cab. half stacks, drums, everything. on the plus side, no drunk driving. what sucked was if you lived in a 6th floor walkup. 6 floors of stairs , no elevator. |

There are no stores that are worth going to for steel stuff in NYC. If they have anything at all they have no idea what it is or how to use it. There are plenty of good players that are very helpful though. Contact John Widgren and Gerald Menke on the forum. They can point you in the right direction.

I carry my steel on a dolly,
cabinet on a backpack strap system, Genz benz shuttle.
I use the subways. |
