Just got it yesterday from a friend (Easter present ) and all I can say is WOW! "My little Ballerina" is probaly my favorite right now, but all his song are great. I believe Paul Franklin is playing steel and dobro on some of the song like Hot Wired and Sugarfoot rag. If ya aint got it, be a gettin it!

I've had this for several years. Nearly worn it out. It is definitely hot. A terrific range of musical styles with an all-star cast of musicians. Hot licks and smooth stylings both included.
The dobro is by Jerry Douglas, I believe.
There is a special appearance by Chet also.
The Swing with a Sting with Paul Franklin is an absolute knock out too.
One of my favorite instrumental albums, period. |

I've had it for a good 8-9 years and it is fantastic. I keep waiting for the next one. Not a song on the CD that isn't great. _________________ Ray Harrison

Is Brent's CD available through Barnes & Noble, or where else can you obtain the CD? Is Ernest Tubb Record Shoppe a vendor for the CD? |

I'll second everything said about this CD. At first I thought, "Oh I know what this is going to be....it's going to be like Larry Carlton meets Nashville, all watered down smooth/sticky sweet stuff." It's anything BUT that. My girlfriend and I listened to this CD exclusively for about 6 months straight. It has so much to offer that we just didn't feel like listening to anything else. (Good to know I've got a woman that can handle that kind of obsessive/repetitive behaviour...very necessary for a musician!) Not a single bad cut on the whole album. Very solid arrangements and the musicianship is incredible. Some nice tones too. |

It's been out print for years, so you have to hunt around for used ones. Every now and then one will pop up on eBay or Amazon, but they usually end up going for quite a bit of $$. _________________ http://www.oldbluesound.com/about.htm

Great CD!!!!!
I went to see The Players a few years back and took the opportunity to tell him how much I'd enjoyed it. I asked if there'd be another but he said 'No - that one only sold 20,000 copies!'
I know any number of steel players who wouldn't mind those sales figures for their efforts, but I suppose Brent's album was a major record company effort and, by their standards, a 'failure'.
Not musically, though!!! In view of its having been unavailable for so long I've taken the liberty of copying it for a handful of select friends - I hate to do that but I love sharing this masterpiece with an appreciatice audience.
I've yet to get his second album (with his brother, Randy); I must correct that omission. _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles and Martins - and, at last, a Gibson Super 400!

Brent's daughter attended the school where I work and Brent handed me copies of both of these some time ago. Unbelievable! |

I have Hot Wired plus the CD that Brent recorded with his brother. Both excellent musicians. _________________ Show Pro D10 - amber (8+6), MSA D10 Legend XL Signature - redburst (9+6), Sho-Bud Pro 111 Custom (8+6), Emmons black Push-Pull D10 (8+5), Zum D10 (8x8), Hudson pedal resonator.
