I posted this "arrangement" (most of it is very loosely arranged) of Georgia On My Mind on the Harmony/Theory thread because I wanted to put a few of the devices to work as a demonstration. I use the term "chord melody" loosely here, as it's not a strict reading of the melody.

I may attempt to tab it out, but I don't think it's very difficult to figure it out and I would rather encourage that. There are no slants and it can be played on 6 strings. I used the Clinesmith D-8 on this. The steel and guitar are panned hard left and right, so you block it out if you like and play along. Also, I made the rhythm track yesterday and some of the dominant turnarounds I played in this version clash with the minor ii-V7s in the rhythm. Fire that unhip rhythm section of myself and I.

Georgia On My Mind

Strangely enough, as much as I love the subject of harmony, this may be the first time I've actually really tried to any kind of chordal arrangement on the steel. I'm just getting my feet with this one. If you like, come sit in on the thread.

Steel guitar heaven: One of my alltime favorites (btw, there is a cool FAST version by young Anita O'Day) in a majestic arrangement.

Mike, if you give us the key and the changes, I will try to tab it myself, promise!
(Although the jazzy stuff may be beyond my limits. Tabbing "City of New Orleans" right now - much easier, but still good learning effect.)

Hmm... just saw that the chord sequence is already on the music theory thread!
Shame on me, for not looking there before posting Embarassed

Now, I have no excuse for not tabbing that song.

Mike, thanks for all your work on the harmony/theory thread and this recording. I've gotten a lot out of both.
