I'm playing there tomorrow, Tues. night w/ Sean Kershaw & the New Jack Ramblers. Except for the possibility of one more Red Hook gig later in the month this looks to be my last night with the band.
And my first time playing at the Rodeo Bar.
Quite a few folks here have played there. Any info about anything will be appreciated.
Parking tips?
Load in?
Food to avoid?
All amps are mic'ed, right?
Thanks for anything you might think helpful.

hey jon,
every time i have played there, i was always able to get a spot out front on third. you load in through a door to the left of the main entrance. i cannot think of anything food wise to stay away from....
i will be back in town after the 18th hopefully you will be playing with someone else by then.
lost in europe....

Only thing I can advise is don't go for the Goat Cheese quesadilla... It got Eric b-a-d one night... or was that the Maker's Mark? whatever-anyway, he blames the Goat Cheese.
I liked the Chicken Fried Chicken myself...

Jon, as stated, parking is usually easy. I like the tuna salad, which is yellow fin (I like it rare) tuna sliced and on a salad. I think it's the only thing on the menu that is not fried. It's good.
I'll do my darndest, but I've been running ragged the last several days.
Oh yeah, don't let em' stick you next to the Buffalo head that protrudes from the south wall....that thang's got baaaaad breath! |

Howard--I tend avoid foods that end in "alad".
Foods that begin with "chicken fried", on the other hand.....
Mmmmmmm. Chicken fried Makers Mark........
And BTW, Howard--if it's curiosity about how our show will play at the Rodeo Bar, I don't blame you. I'm tempted to come out and see us too. But otherwise, there's nothing to see or hear that you haven't seen or heard--as always, it wouold be a pleasure to see you but darning socks would probably rank right up there with seeing us on a Tuesday night.
Thanks for the info, all. |

Have a good one, Jon. I'm playing that night myself or I'd come and see you.
I have always found the food to be surprisingly good at Rodeo -- the enchiladas are fine and the blackened catfish is very good. you also get a discount.
Say hi to Jason the sound man for me, he usually does Tuesdays and he's a great guy.
and yes, they mike everything. you should have a great time. |
