I'm just curious on what is the most popular pickup on Zum Hybrids, especially a SD 10. How do you like the stock single coil? What do guys like Randy Beavers use? I really like his sound. I'm not a fan of really bright pickups and I don't want to start the "is it the guitar or the hands argument". Just want to know what hybrid owners like. |

A lot of guys have switch to Alumitones. Randy did and took the plunge as well. Love the sound

Danny I have switched to alumitones on my standard Zum and it's very impressive, but my Hybrid has Trutones and is so good I have no intention of messing with it! _________________ 14'Zumsteel Hybrid D10 9+9

I have Truetones in mine.(Hybrid). I think around 1750. I like them lot. _________________ Steel Guitar Services:

Why not go with a coil-tapped pickup so that you will have a wider range of tonal options at your beck and call.
Jason Lollar has a great reputation for making great pickups and I have heard enough of his pickups to concur with this reputation. He seems to know just where to put the taps on the coils to give useful tonal options. _________________ Regards

Lollar winds Steel pickups now?
You guys who have installed Alumitones in a Zum- where did you get the baseplate? And any problems? Feel free to email me directly if you don't want to sidetrack Danny's thread, thanks. |

Bruce Bouton has an Alumitone for his Zum, but may not have it installed yet. Check with Tommy Dodd for the pickup and the base plate. |

I installed 18,500k Tonealigners in Jr. Martin's Zum original. It rounded out the upper mids beautifully. Have not heard it on a hybrid though. Worth a listen....
