I liked him too. The Box Tops were one of my favourites. And Big Star was something speial.
I think, that he never got the recognition he deserved.

They broadcasted an extended interview on PBS radio today. Very interesting guy. He detested the corporate music machine. He could have been very wealthy, but he refused. The guy had ethics and guts. He made good music. RIP.

His first/immortal hit was cut at age 16, with a sound and soul well beyond.
Chilton's place in music history was set in stone with that one song.

Big Star are one of my favorites. Great songwriter and singer. I'm really sorry that he died so young.

His biography "A Man Called Destruction" is available. I've just got the book. The only thing I've read so far is that "Cry Like A Baby" was written at 4:30 in the morning.
