Saw Charley in Austin yesterday at the rodeo. Terrible, terrible sound system. Everything muffled. If you listened real close, you could hear the steel once in a while. When Charley talked, you could barely hear him. Most of the time I couldn't. He introduced his band and I think he said the steel player was Ronnie Miller. When you could hear the steel, he sure made the GFI Ultra sound good.
After the show, Charley went to the outdoor stage where his son Carlton was singing with his Ragae band and he and Charley did Kiss An Angel Good Morning. Over all, a good day of music. |

Ronnie started in Denver -- had his own band called (if I remember right) 'Whirlwind'. I bought my first steel guitar from him, a ZB D-10.
Great player and super nice guy. |

Charley and all,
thanks for the kind words, and a special hi to my long time Denver friends.
As for the Austin show, my wife was on the 2nd level and she said she could not hear the PA the first couple of songs, and then it got a lot better, and she could also hear me in the mix....
We bring our own out front soundman, but the sound in those kind of buildings, are not always that great depending on where you are sitting.
Sure sounded good in my in-ears and the steel is always out front....cya...Ronnie |
