About 50 years ago Marty Robbins recorded a couple of Hawiian albums. One of them specifically featured Jerry Byrd on the Steel Guitar and two of the songs on the album were "Drowsy Waters" and "Hula Hands". Do any of you know the name of the Album and if it is still available somewhere. In my estimation nobody does Hawiian music with the finess and touch like Jerry Byrd.

Both of those albums by Marty Robbins are sprinkled with JERRY BYRD Solo's and fabulous back-up. If it's Hawaiian music and melodic steel guitar that you're yearning to hear, you can't go wrong by purchasing either of those albums.

If you go to the Amazon site, you can listen to every song in the album........ ENJOY!

Cord International is a great source for Hawaiian music. Lots of reissues of old recordings, including some of Jerry Byrd's.

The songs have been repackaged several times. To me, the first one, Hawaii's Calling Me, is the best. I remember when it first came out. I was at school at the time, and it was displayed in the window of the local record shop for months. I remember thinking how bright and sunny the cover looked compared to the miserable drizzle we were suffering at the time in England. I bought a copy of the album as soon as I had accumulated enough pocket money, and it's been one of my favorite albums ever since.

Poor Ray, your new erstwhile home in Latvia has blunted your usual sharp perception..You'll need a Piper Aztec Nomad, and STOL..

James E Farmer played Hawaiian Steel Guitar on the first album "Song of the Islands" Jerry Byrd played on "Hawaii's Calling Me"
Don't ask me about the bold text !
