I just bought a Sho Bud Pro II from Henry Matthews, a forum member and very good steel picker. This guitar has got my Lashley Legrande II beat hands down for tone. I've only owned one Sho Bud in my steel playin years, and it was my first steel guitar. A green LDG model and it was ok, but didn't keep it long, as it had been run through the mill. I've had two MSAs, 3 Emmons, a ZUM, a Mullen and the only guitar that even came close to this Pro II was the short keyhead Emmons I had, but it didn't have the tone this Bud has. I'm sold on these Sho Bud Pro II's for sure.

Great score Terry.
Yes, those old Pro II Sho-Buds sound fantastic.
I agree about his pickin' too. He played steel over the telephone and I thought it was a record.

I have a 70's Pro II CUSTOM that I've been trying to sell for a long time, that I think has a very good tone and works very well! I just have too many guitars, for my needs!

Terry, glad you like the Bud. Our soundman is mad, he said it is the best sounding guitar I have. Sent the volume pedal today so you should get it maybe by Sat.
By the way yall, Terry is a good picker also. He was maiking that Bud sound really good.

Thanks Henry, I'm gonna start workin on some of those Hal Rugg licks you showed me. This guitar just has that Hal Rugg sound. I'll be lookin for the pedal.

In just bought an old pro 3 and I agree with you it also has an incredable tone, I am not sure of the difference between the 2 and the 3 but "Tone to the Bone" is the best way to describe them also I decided to keep my Mullen!!!Love it as well Keep on picken you sound great!! Paul Foster |

Thanks Paul. Glad you decided to keep that Mullen, it is a good guitar for sure.
Actually, Dave, this particular Pro II has aluminum necks. I think Henry said a guy that worked for Sho-Bud in the 70s made the guitar for himself, and put aluminum necks on it. Or, something like that. Henry could tell you. Anyway it's a real Unique steel guitar. I think the older Emmons, and Sho-Buds just have a better tone.
