Does anyone make long scale stringmaster copies?
I'm looking for a single neck. |

Closest I have seen are being made by ELVA WEST in Anaheim under his brand TRADEWIND...very impressive and reasonably priced. Also, some of the old GUYATONES which are made in Japan are quite similar to the Stringmaster...
Probably the BEST, is the CANOPUS if you can still get one. I love my D-8 ... great tone and quality built throughout. Price is NOT cheap but then, you only get what you are willing to pay. I certainly have no regrets.

meaning it goes nowhere when i click on it in google chrome
and explorer complains that my default email client isnt set up which it refuses to help you with unless that email client is microsoft
ok i think i saw the email address faintly in the lower left hand corner

David, Tony Wilcox is selling a nice looking Remington S-8 Steelmaster. It's a 24 1/4" scale. I owned a D8 and they're fine guitars.

In regards to CANOPUS...as far as I'm concerned, it is one of the finest guitars you'll ever play ! I have the D-8 model which did NOT come cheap..(with no regrets). I teach steel, (presently 20 on steel and 12 on ukulele). 2 of my steel students own the single neck CANOPUS 8 string models, both are fabulous instruments. The newer of the 2 is the "BUCKIE" model and all I can say is "Wow!"
Yashiro Kamiya builds high quality into his instruments.
Many years ago there was a classy car named the PACKARD...(equivilant to the CADILLAC). Packard's quality was very high and the slogan of the company was, "Ask the man who owns one!"
I mention this simply because it would be a very appropriate slogan for CANOPUS today ! |

I didn't see any mention of Herb Remington here. His guitars are not stringmaster copies per se. He calls them Steelmasters. He uses George L E66 pups. But otherwise they are very similar to but in my view very superior to the old fender stringmasters. Rick Alexander swore by them. And he had a collection of them. Cindy Cashdollar is also a fan. So am I, for what that's worth.

I suppose if you wanted one, Herb would make a long scale Steelmaster and you could put Jason Lollar Stringmaster pickups on it. It would be just as good and probably better than any old mint Fender you might be able to find. I'd want a nice, thin nitro-laq finish on it, too. : )

Amen to what Edward said. I bought a new Remington S8 Steelmaster from Herb almost three years ago.I love it and would never part with it.It has a much richer sound than the older Fenders. It is like an "Emmons" of the non pedal steels.
