I don't particularly like Fender SKs or HRDs.
I like everything about Peavey 112s but the reverbs and logos. ( and "the sound")..
Wow!.
Had a loudish non miked gig with the Two Frontmen I replaced my ripped stuff with..
I played it at home to "break in " the "Slver Bell Weber".
It did OK, but the speaker didnt' seem to d much more than the stock Fender..
Well at the gig, it just flat COOKED.
Even MORE on Sat.
I tried to put "too much" through it ( I let the other 65 "stereo" handle less signal,) It just didnt' break up. It didn't compress too much like the 112 I have seemed to..
OF COURSE the highs needed triming both at the amp and on the "Tube Preamp" or the Podxt. It handled the C6 just fine for the medium volume non miked, and the Tele was GREAT through it, (and the podxt).
I stll kind of smile about a hundred dollar speaker in a two hundred dollar amp...
but...
Unless the reliability "thing" hits a bump, these little things are dynomite.
We'll see.
Two of them in stereo are hard to beat so far..

Eric,
I noticed that they are not listed on Fender's website. M'Friend and G'Center still sell them. If these are as nice as you say, It might be advisable to get em while you can.

Well I know the older "FM" models aren't out there any more they list the "Frontman65r" on MusFrnd.
I was pretty surprised anyhow.

Eric, does it have a decent sound not using the pod preamp?

Eric, I bought one of the Chinese Fenders, a FM100H, and ran it through an 2-12 EV style cabinet. I'm replacing it with my "Twin" clone, but the FM sounds great!
I only wonder how well they will hold up with you playing out like you do, keep us informed. |

Well I think it would be more in the tele range tone wise without the Pod, but I"ve run it in the bypass mode and it seems good. (with the Pod reverb and delay (and compression for guitar)).
If they stand up to punishment better than the Steel Kings, they'll have my allegiance.
Mostly, like I said, it's the cost for replacing the Blues Jr that got stolen, and the weight as my back is not in shape to haul a Session in one hand and a Cased Sho Bud in the other.. Or even really a Nashville for any length of time.
It's probably not as good of an amp as the 112, but I don't like the high end compression on the 112s that the low end seems to trigger and squish everything. (DDT COmpression). that's why my "optimum rig" was a Nvl112 for the lows and a Blues Jr for the highs.
I'll certainly pitch a fit when I blow them up and whine as loud as I can..

Well week 2.
I used only One Frt65r. Non miked, LOUD gig.
It wasn't quite enough, and ratted out more roughly than a Nvl112 would have.
Both the 65s would have done it.
The tone of course is sharp, and all the highs had to be cut at the amp. No problem though.
