| I play with backing tracks from an MP3 player.A home HI FI or playing through my steel amp is not great.Would a small PA be good? Would I need 12"speakers? What do other people use? |

Bryan, I use a Roland KC-300 amplifier for MP3, CD & BIAB tracks. It has the capability for actual bandstand quality & volume. When two KC-300's (wow  ) are used, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between the tracks and a live band. |

| Many thanks Jerry. I have no doubt that would do a great job but my back nearly hurts to look at it.I thought maybe separate speakers and amp might be easier handled.I would say that is the sort of sound I'm looking for.Thanks again for your help. |

Bryan,
You might want to look at the Kustom Profile 1 small PA pachage. The speakers and the 4 channel amp are very lightweight and versatile. The sound quality is quite good as well. They are avaialble online and at Guitar Center

| Thanks Adam.Seems like the sort of set up I need.But I just wonder if the speakers would be big enough to give a good depth to the sound.It's hard to get everything the way you would like it. |

Bryan, I don't know how loud you want to get, but I recently got an IPod and run it through some Altec Lansing Powered Computer Speakers. I think the key is having a Sub Woofer. I can get it as loud as I need in my music room. I only have the speaker volume control on 6. I would suggest looking at a speaker-sub woofer setup that has a seperate volume control for the sub woofer. Mine doesn't, and I wish I could control the volume of the sub woofer. Small, compact, and the IPod makes it easy to flip through the practice tracks without getting up from the Steel.

| I have a Samson S83 mixer/PA that I bought off the forum and run my Ipod, laptop, guitar, mic, etc...thru it and use headphones. It works for me fine. Nothing fancy, but it works |

Thanks Mike. I have been getting a good sound using computer speakers with a sub woofer but volume has to be turned full up on both player and speakers.
Many thanks Don for your help. I think your idea of a powered mixer is my best option but with suitable speakers so that my wife and others can hear.
