John and I [cleat] became friends back 1984 app. He use to come in and sit in my Band back then . Ater 2 set 11.pm sat night. He was a Great performer. I would let him use my Les Pual. He was the only person I let use my Gibson. This when I was in Baton Rough, La. then ,one of my uncle clubs. Didn't see him when I was in New Orleans,La. He use to be a Jock at WBRH fm . in B.R.,La.[ funny thing], My aunt bet my uncle, Cleat will let John use his Les Paul bet!!?, $100.00 .Well my uncle got mad at Me. But my aunt was a $ 100.00 richer.. Rolling Eyes Was total surprise when He died.. cleat

Well lets it stay, John Fred and the Playboys. I can only say good things about him. And what else I know . I;ll keep it to my self. You would have like him Leo. Very Happy

Is his real name "Jim Ed Fred"? Now I know a Fred Fred,and Ed Fred and a Ted Fred and Fred John..In fact I have even used Freds John. Laughing

I remember Joh Fred, and the song he had out back in 1968. I had just moved down from Kentucky and heard the song for the first time on radio station WLCS radio 910. He was truly a great talent. His real name was John Fred Gourier. He had the band John Fred and the Playboys. A great Rock-N-Roll band.
