Just wondered if any of you have tried both types of pickups and what was your opinion of each to use on a Carter PSG? I have 710's on my D-10 and had a 10-1 on a new S-10 that i bought some years ago, and in retrospect it seems the 10-1's might have been a little more suitable for what i really want out of my Carter. After doing a hearing test recently, i found that i can only hear up to around 4000htz with any kind of clarity and these 710's seem to get harsh in the highs. Just wondered if maybe 10-1's would be a bit softer with the highs. Appreciate any info. TJH

The highs on a 710 are sharper, and on the 10-1 it's very sweet on the highs. Carters a naturally bright, and I think Carter even stopped offering 710's altogether because it's not a good "fit".

Thorlon, Dean is right about the 710's on a Carter, which is why John Fabian moved to the BL-XR16 ...it looks just like a 710 but is a little sweeter in the mid range and a little silkier on the highs - seems to suit the Carter a lot better than the 710.

Now that i think of it; it think i remember John saying that Carter had stopped offering 710's as an otion. Hate to spend money right now, just got through buying
speakers for my Twin Reverb, so guess i'll have to start looking for someone that would like to have a pair of 710's through trade or outright purchase. No rush as i'm not playing steel at this time except in my basement. Thanks guys for your help. TTYL TJH
