Hey guys,

I've been trying to find a way to play live standing up. I currently have a bakelite ric, which would be tough to play standing with a strap (some pretty serious mods would need to be made!).

I've read several of the old threads... The asher belly-bar is an approach I've been considering, but either way I need to buy another guitar to try it out.
Recently though I was thinking that perhaps a tele-style body (or some other solid body electric) converted to lap-style (via a riser, redneck, etc) might work just as well? It seems to me that the biggest problem playing standing is getting the strings far away from my body -- most lap steels are too narrow, whereas a full-sized electric is often quite a bit wider and will naturally sit further away.
Has anyone tried this?

thanks

Really!?

I have no problem playing a dobro while standing, but hadn't even tried with the bakelite...
What kind of strap did you use? I can't see how I'd even attach a dobro-style strap -- there's no traditional endpin...?

thanks

You need to find a picture or video of that new Peavey lap steel. They have a special strap for that guitar that helps you hold it when standing.
