There have been many discussions in the past few months about people who have built their own lap steels and resonator guitars. Did you have a specific question? I don't know anyone who has built a guit-steel like Junior Brown's, though.

Hi Im only totaly new to this steel and forum.
but fully intend to make my own..
I have been gathering info but to be honest Ive been a frade to ask any questions, incase I stomp on anyones feet, due to so many who build them ( Im not sure at the mo weather they do this as a living or a hobby )
I have found a few sites who supply the makings IE. machine heads, pickups and so on..but when gathering this info it it still left in the dark as to what pick up's ect to use
so I think there is still a lot more to learn..
I have seen some fantistic pic's on the site of thoes who have made there own.

You should check out the Steel Guitar Builder forum. It doesn't have a lot of posts compared to here, but I'm sure you'll get a lot of your questions answered.

Hi Brad and Thom..
re one of my forst post' Altho very cheep I was disipointed when the steel arrived, ( im not sure what ) it just looked cheep and not having seen one before. I dident realy know what to expect..
I joined the forum and started looking at pic's which made things worse..I looked at how they where made.
That is when I diceid that I would make my own..But right at the mo I thought it's pointless having a realy good one if I couldent play it..
Also when I first started learning keyboard I had a cheep one and worked my way up ( I now you wast more money doing it this way ) Then when I got a decent one. I found what I could play sounded realy good on the new one..
So thank's for the link as I said I don't want to stand on anyones toes, (I think prob some make them for a living)
Back to practice now

Whether they are in business making Instruments or like me, doing it for fun, everyone here will help where they can, even a photo can be an encouragement.
