This is probably in the wrong section.. but...
S = single neck
D = double neck
SD = single strung neck on a double neck body/frame
10 = number of strings on the neck..
Good luck! |

....although lately I have seen S-10's advertized for sale on here, but when you see the picture posted, it will be a SD-10....don't know if it's a typo on the sellers part...or what? |

If you are really tall a sd-10 gives more room underneath for your legs to work, and somewhere to rest your long arms! I'm 6'4 and play a D-10, but started with an sd-10, both 2" over length legs and rods. You didn't mention hight, but it seemed pertinent to buying a first steel, if you're tall. _________________ RICK ABBOTT

Hi Duane; You're in the same boat I was about a month or so ago. And now I"M giving advice !!! What do you know?!!
Anyway, I hope you don't mind if I advise that questions like this, regarding anything about learning about pedal steels, or how to play them, or what amp to use, etc, should be posted in the section of the Forum called "Pedal Steel", not in the "For Sale" sections.
Any questions about how electronics work, mostly that should be in "Electronics", but sometimes it's hard to know which place to put it.
So, ask away, you'll get lots of support and info, it's just that some members like to keep things "ship shape" as far as the where the postings go. Reed |

And continuing on from there, T8 would be a 3-neck model with 8 strings on each neck, and Q8 would be a 4-neck model, but those terms are rarely used.
What would you call a double-neck steel with 8 strings on one neck and 10 on the other ?
D8/10 ? |
