Since JCH guitars are not being made anymore, can someone tell me what steel would be the closest to a JCH? AS far as tone, mechanisms, changer, anything, etc. |

Most all-pull steels sound the same, so any modern steel will do.
I'll guarantee you something, though, you'll still sound like you |

Pat,
I played a JCH for years. I would say an Emmons Legrande would be close or a new Rains. _________________ Bob |

i'd say ZumSteel
knowing the good Ol Emmons is the benchmark
but i heard Jimmie C took a Zum as a model for his creations |

i agree with crowbear...heard the same thing about zum and jch. in the early 80's they were both a slightly nicer refinement and forward looking version of what emmons was trying to develop. |

Bob:
You don't find that the JCH is taking up a bit too much room in your house, do you? I find that I'm short of a D-10 guitar and yours would fit the bill..... _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

Sorry, the Zum reference would be incorrect, although Jimmie admired the workmanship on many guitars including the Zum, Emmons tone was always his 'Holy Grail'.
Two very well informed resources other than myself, would be John Macy and Buck Reid also Bobbe Seymour and Lloyd Green.
I speak from the experience of working with Jimmie in his shop for 1 1/2 years. |
