Hello fellow forumites,
I play a Carter U-12, using Carter`s standard copedent.
here´s the chart
It has a half stop on LKL (which lowers my 2ndString Eb >D and raises my 9th string B>D).
I understand that the half stop on E9th tunings usually divides the full step lowering process of string 2 into two half steps.
Since my second string is lowered only a half step anyway, how should I set the half stop?
Change lowering 2nd to a full step?
Somewhere to interrupt the 9th string lowering?
Or do you use it with a different pull?
Thanks for sharing your ideas and experience...

If you are only dropping the 2nd string a semitone, a half stop is unnecessary on that string.
I notice that you are raising your 9th from B up to D, so maybe you could use it there, perhaps when the note gets to C# |

Sherman and Jon, thanks for your opinions and links, some good ideas to think about.
I just wonder why Carter mounted an extra /(13th) changer finger and the open space in the endplate, if John recommends to leave it empty...
Richard, you´re right, I set it to stop at C for a try, but might as well take it off completely.

The chart shows the 1/2 step lower on one lever, the whole step lower on another lever. So you have both notes without using a half stop, maybe you can use add the half-stop to the 1st string? To get both G and G#? |
