Andy's electro hawaiian at least is still in the family: I bought it.

Mark,

It has been an interesting trip. Took up jazz trumpet a couple of years ago and didn't touch a stringed instrument. And I loved it. And even though I was a lousy jazz trumpet player, I was happy being a bad trumpet player than an ok for an amateur steel player. The trumpet is that good. And I recorded duets with my daughter, took lessons, practiced all the time, bought and sold dozens of instruments, from the 1920's to the top of the line new horn. I started playing out. And then I separated, moved to the city, and really couldn't practice like that any more, and slowly revived my interest in steel, specifically weissenborn style. And I've been getting back into it, and loving it again.

Yesterday Andy's Asher Electro Hawaiian model one arrived. Beautiful instrument.

I walked down to Matt Uminov's after work and picked up some new strings, changed the strings, plugged it into the Podxt, and had one of the most satisfying few hours of music making I've had in many a month.

Coming back to steel after a couple of years lay off, I have a pretty good idea what I want, and I certainly found it with this instrument. It plays like my weissenborn, but has the sound and sustain of a fine electric instrument. Really and eye opener for me.
