I built one out of plywood, 3/4" with a back rest, right in the lower part for comfort and put swivel
casters on it, handles on the sides, and put a very
comfortably padded and hinged locking lid. Don't look
like anything you'd buy but something you'd be proud
to have and use. Good luck on youre build. |

While we're on the subject of building seats, do you have a suggestion for a good hinge for the top of the seat? My Sho-Bud seat finally came apart (after 34 years!). I want a good solid hinge -- but, hopefully, something that isn't completely industrial looking. Thanks for your help. Boo |

Bo; Go to your hardware store & get a 1 in. piano hinge. they usually come in lengths from 1 ft, to 3 0r 4 ft. Easy to cut to desired length. Looks like a factory job when finished. Andy H. |

I agree a piano hinge will work excellent..some hardware stores carry hinges like you would see on a blanket chest or fine furniture.( i think they call them butterfly) I was lucky to find a flight case like they ship hospital equipment in which is what i am using..they look identical to those used on guitar cases. _________________ WILCOX SD10 (love the white mica)

Patrick,
That looks to me like an aluminum utility case with a cushion, etc, if it is, great idea, solves the latch/hinge issue....I like it.

You're right Bill, a case from local DIYshop with the rest of a camping seat broken, aluminium corner, plywood, a polyurethane cushion, and a piece of skaï.. not too much equipment and money but more time of thought!
I like it and my bottom too! |
