I'm sorry, I been looking for the pull rod size under my 75 Bud and I just discovered the knee lever rods are bigger diameter then the ones for the pulls the pedals operate. (Not the vertical long pedal rods)
I am trying to come up with the diameter of the larger lever pull rods and the thread size so I can experiment with some hook ups ( and a source for them ) I want a few unthreaded rods and maybe locate the spring loaded couplers and lock nuts, etc. It looks like these may be a 10-32 but not sure. Sorry for the mix up. Any directions appreciated.
This is what a short one I have looks like. |

That looks like a linkage rod to connect a knee lever hub to a cross rod actuator. If so, it is probably 3/16 or .187 per the info that Chas Smith posted in your other thread.
You can probably find 3/16 rod stock easily which will thread to 10-32 again as Chas posted. You might want to look for stainless material so that it won't rust on you.
You can buy the 10-32 ball connectors like on each end of your rod from George' L's website. Maybe Bobbe Seymour's store too or Scotty's Music in St. Louie.
Here is a chart I found that might help get you close with your dimensions. http://www.engineersedge.com/screw_threads_chart.htm |

Bill, I hope I'm understandig what you are looking for. As stated, you can probably find 3/16" steel rod at the local hardware store. It will most likely be untreated or zinc plated at best. This might be suitable if you are just looking to experiment, but may be susceptible to rust.
Or you might find aluminum rod there at a higher price.
I found this supplier in Seattle that advertises small quantities of 304 stainless at very reasonable prices. I don't know anything about them except what I read here and I didn't go to check out to look for shipping costs however. clickhere
Best of luck with your project |

Welding rods of the right diameter, most welding supplys will sell you as little. or as many as you need. As Jerry suggested, I would go with aluminum for ease of threading. Take your link with you to be absolutely sure of the size. Use a light oil for lube on alum., mild steel, stainless needs a special fluid so as not to ruin your threading die. Round the ends of the rod slightly before threading so the die will start easier.

Bill,
Sorry, I should have stated " heli-arc filler rods" rods which are solid rods of various diameters, and material composition (stainless, aluminum, mild steel, etc) with no coating. These come in diameters from 1/16" to I don't know how large and are 36" in length. I have used them for changer pull rods(1/8"), also pedal pull rods(3/16").
