A friend of mine just purchesed a Teisco Steel at a yard sale. It is a 6 string non pedal guitar. Looks like could have been manufactured in the 50"s. Is anybody familiar with this guitar. I personally have nver heard of one. Thanks for any info about this guitar.

There's a Teisco D8 on eBay right now.

Chuck,
Here is my 1954 Teisco R1 standing next to my National Dynamic replica (built by me) and leaning on my Vox Amp.

You can hear it playing here :-

Yep, I've got two Teisco Steels.
My double neck EG-NW is the one pictured on "Brad's
Page of Steel." That was taken after 20 years of use
before I cleaned it up. Looks a bit better now.

Also have a little black Teisco with a 19" scale.
It dates from early '50's. It is similar to the one
in James' picture but does not have as much chrome.

I like the sound of both guitars. The small one
does not have much sustain above the 12th fret.

Some of the older Teisco guitars have poor quality
tuners.

I lived in Japan in 1953 and purchased the double neck directly from the factory in Tokyo.

I own a Teisco with a built-in amplifier/speaker that runs on two 9-volt batteries.

I absolutely love the tone, but the sustain is not so great. It's the shortest scaled steel that I own.
