Fellow forumites,
Have a chance to become a Snowbird and spend some quality time around the Tampa Bay area . Just wondering about the music scene there and would love to meet some fello Forumites around there as well.
Planning to come down around April for a month to make more plans..Thanks _________________ BMI S-10,3+4,Peavey Vegas 400,15"BW equipped,Goodrich 120,Zoom Studio rack mount-FX,Liberty Resonator,Fender Telecaster,JT-148 Jazz Box,Blueridge BR-180 |

Hey Dale, I grew up & went to college around Tampa. The folk music scene is pretty active down there. Check out Friends of Florida Folk for some good info on concerts and events.

Dale, if you are down here on April 14, plan on coming to our Florida Steel Guitar Club jam. www.floridasteelguitarclub.com
There is also another club that meets in Bradenton on the third Tuesday of the month.
There are several steeler's in the area. Ollie Strong comes down for several months and stays in Zephyrhills. Ollie comes to our Tuesday day show we have at Catfish Johnny's Restaurant in Lake Panasoffkee (where we have the steel club jams). I get to jam with Ollie often while he's here.
There are many jams around, you won't have to look far. By April, many snowbirds will be gone but it's still a good time to come and visit. Inverness, where I live, is about 65 miles north of Tampa and there are lots of Canadian snowbirds in the area. |
