A friend of mine just purchesed a Teisco Steel at a yard sale. It is a 6 string non pedal guitar. Looks like could have been manufactured in the 50"s. Is anybody familiar with this guitar. I personally have nver heard of one. Thanks for any info about this guitar.

Yep, I've got two Teisco Steels.
My double neck EG-NW is the one pictured on "Brad's
Page of Steel." That was taken after 20 years of use
before I cleaned it up. Looks a bit better now.
Also have a little black Teisco with a 19" scale.
It dates from early '50's. It is similar to the one
in James' picture but does not have as much chrome.
I like the sound of both guitars. The small one
does not have much sustain above the 12th fret.
Some of the older Teisco guitars have poor quality
tuners.
I lived in Japan in 1953 and purchased the double neck directly from the factory in Tokyo. |

I own a Teisco with a built-in amplifier/speaker that runs on two 9-volt batteries.

I absolutely love the tone, but the sustain is not so great. It's the shortest scaled steel that I own. |
