Hello friends,
The sound of the steel guitar will be heard in lovely Park Slope Brooklyn this weekend:
Friday, March 18
With Mr. Lucky at The Society for Ethical Culture
53 Prospect Park West at 2nd Street
8pm. This fine sounding instrumental band creates moody, layered Americana ala Bill Frisell. Compositions by bassist Jay Granelli.
Saturday, March 19
With Pinataland at Barbes (9th St. at 6th Ave.)10pm. Pinataland is surely one of the few bands that use significant events and odd figures from history as songwriting material. And a tuba instead of bass guitar. Great songs and playing.
I'd love to see some of my Forum friends at these unusual, non-bar scene venues.
Thanks for reading my post.
Gerald

One question remains...
Is it ethical to have steel guitar and tuba in the same band?

Lawrence, the answer to your question is yes. But only if the tuba player wears lederhosen and the steel picker yodels on the chorus.
Keep on pickin'!

I plan on going there Fri night to see Mike Neer & Delta Dreambox, I plan on going Sat night to see Gerald & crew, and I plan on going Sun night to see the Stephane Wrembel Trio (hot Gypsy Jazz).
I may as well sleep there.... |
