I am selling this 2007 Carter D-10 8 X 7 Custom Shop Model Pedal Steel for a friend. I was told it was purchased in December of 2007 for $4500 and has had really low mileage on it since purchase. Carter's Body Contact Technology (BCT) is standard on this guitar. It is loaded with Bill Lawrence XR-16s. I never was a big fan of this particular pickup, but the consensus among 3 local players (including myself) came to the conclusion that it is a perfect match for this particular guitar. This guitar has a REALLY good sound!! As you can see in the pics, the guitar is gorgeous. The mirrored look is very neutral making it blend in on any stage or playing situation.

This guitar is 1" taller than standard making it perfect for a taller player. If someone wants to make it standard size, a new set of legs will do the trick along with resizing the pedal rods. Roy Thomas of Pedalmaster Guitars lives a few miles from me, and this could be converted in a snap. The guitar also comes with a wheeled flight case that is one of the lightest I have ever seen. The case alone would add at least $300 if purchased today.

My friend is asking ***$2950*** plus $60 shipping in the continental U.S. Unfortunately as most of you know by now, these guitars are no longer available new at any cost. You won't see many Carters with this particular quality of custom work (as well as being a fully loaded 8 X 7) come up for sale any time soon...especially one in excellent condition like this. Send me an email and I will reply as soon as possible in the order I receive the emails. Trades WILL NOT be considered, it is a cash only deal. I will be handling the sale, and I do accept Paypal. If you ever wanted to own a first class Carter, now is the time to get one.

I have one just like that. It just showed up yesterday. I dont know if it was the last one produced by carter but its beautiful. I have the alumitone pickups. The carter company will be missed as well as John. Great guitar. Bump

Ryan it's probably the 2nd last one like that..I am bringing back the last D10 chrome and black one from Dallas in March ..it was the one that was on their website, and one of my local players has bought it.
Awesome looking finish - ya gotta love all that chrome.

Paddy, is the one you have got the jeweled necks? i ordered mine to be built. the one i saw on there had jeweled necks and i did not get them cause it just was not my liking. i dont know all the details of who or when it was built. all i know is it was sent out last thursday. i had ordered it back in the begining of december 09. i actually would like to know if it is the last or near the last to be built. is there a way to find out using the serial number or did they just put whatever number on them?

Yep this one has got the premium edged necks which I think are jewelled ...it is the one thats still up on the Carter website in the "Ready to go" section - so it's one built for floor stock. Don't know what the serial number is, or when it was actually built - I'm just presuming it's fairly recent.

yea, ann tried to sell me that one but like i said im not big on the looks of the necks. i know its a great option, but thats me. thats why im not sure of when mine was made. when i ordered it she said they had a cabinat that was black that they could put the crome front on so thats what i went with. see i dont know if they whipped it up after his death or if it was being built before his death (may he rest in peace). i dont want to ask her or anything like that cause then i would just sound selfish, in which im not. i respect her and her privacy. i will miss the carter group and john. but im just wondering how it went about. im sure there was others at the moment being built. but like i said i am just wondering. anyhow you will like the looks of it if you havent been upclose to one like this one here. they are just beautiful.

Owner wants quick sale. It is now reduced to where a new set of standard legs would be below the original asking price. Definitely well below the original $4500 price. Keep looking. May be reduced more in days to come.
