Does anybody know if Buddy Cage is currently playing that purple 14 string Excel universal? I continue to see photos of him playing an old red 10 string LeGrande that I thought was his backup guitar. I don't see him using the black Fessenden D-12 either. I would like to know what horn he recorded the new NRPS CD with. Anybody out there know his latest setup? |

Carey:
As of this past Aug., Buddy was back playing the red, Emmons, LeGrande, Loafer (single ten on D-10 body) guitar he was using a few years ago. We did a show with them in DC as it was us with Commander Cody and The Riders.
The live CD they did a several years ago at Turkey Trot Acres was done when Buddy was playing the D-12 Fessenden. I'm not sure if this is the CD of which you speak.
Sincerely,
Chris "Tiny" O. |

Tiny, thanks - I was at that show at Turkey Trot when he played the Fessenden. I was referring to the CD they came out with this past year titled "Where I Come From" and I was just curious about his playing that old LeGrande S-10 when he was always such a proponent of a D-12 with a monster copedant. It looks like the purple beastly Excel is available for sale at Scotty's, so I'll assume his foray into universals was not successful. Anybody else know what's he's up to? |

The universal indeed was not what he was looking for. He's currently still playing that borrowed Emmons and trying to find someone to re create the Hilt, or at least come close.
The new CD was cut on the Emmons you all are discussing. He hasn't had the fessy for more than a year.
