While listening to "The Radio.Com" Red Foley was singing "At Mail Call Today". with the Lawrence Welk Orchestra. I checked it out on Internet Wilkapedia and the record is listed. Was this a one shot deal or did Red sing with the Band back in 1945 ?

Billy:

Red also recorded Shame On You with Welk; both songs recorded in NYC on June 26, 1945.

I have no idea how they ever got together. It apparently was a one-shot deal that happened only in the studio.

Mitch: It is amazing what pops up on "TheRadiocom" under Country Music from the 40's. It seems most of RCA's recordings were of pretty high quality with good mucicians and arrangements. Some of the other recordings can be pretty primative but it's easy to skip by them. However, you can listen to a lot of History.
