I saw this amp at NAMM last weekend. Didn't get a chance to try it but heard a live demo where it sounded pretty nice.
Roland AC-33 amp

I'm tempted but...
I already have a Roland Cube Street (RCS) that I use while traveling. The RCS has a bullet-proof grill, tough amp corners and a carrying case. The new amp has none of these. The new amp sells for $399. A new RCS is $249.
The new amp has 15 watts per channel - the RCS has 5. _________________ Gerald Ross

Isn't this their first venture into 'accoustic' battery amps?
If it is, @ $350 street price, that's a bit steep for a limited/niche market.
Would it even be good for steel?

It is slightly smaller all-around than the Cube Street. Weighs about the same.
In terms of road-worthy - the Cube Street beats it with it's metal speaker grill, industrial strength cabinet corners and carrying case with shoulder strap.
The Cube Street also has a 3 pin XLR input on the mic channel - one of those hybrid XLR/1.25" input jacks.
The new amp is a bit more "classy and elegant" looking and not so industrial as the Cube Street. _________________ Gerald Ross

The Cube Street:
The AC-33:
It certainly seems like Roland is trying to corner the market on portable amplifiers. The real question is whether the Cube Street is loud enough for your typical gigs (assuming you're not competing with a drummer, etc.). _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

I am tempted by it's smaller size and higher wattage.
It's about 4" smaller in width and about 4" smaller in depth. Height is about the same as the Cube Street.
The Cube Street has 6.5" speakers. This new one - 5" speakers. But I have heard those 5" speakers and they do have some beefy lower end. _________________ Gerald Ross

Does anyone know if it has reverb on both guitar and mic channels with individual controls for each channel? The Cube Street does. I hope the AC-33 does too.
If it was announced at NAMM doesn't that mean it won't be available for 6-8 months? |

Its got chorus switches on both mic/line inputs and a looper in, but looks like one reverb to me, but Im not sure:

What are they thinking? Who needs chorus on a mic channel? |
