I gotta know, what is a black rock? Sounds kinda interesting, but I thought I had heard of all this stuff and this is totally new to me. |

I believe the black rock came in a D-10 that was between a student model and a pro guitar. It also had a wooden pedalboard. |

A friend of mine had a Black Rock which was a single 10 ..he played it for years but it was a bit of a dunger !! the undercarriage fell out into his lap one night while he was playing a gig with it....that's when he decided to upgrade to a decent guitar...! My first steel was a Black Rock. It was a single ten 3+3 with a wood neck that as I recall was about 1/2 inch thick. I ordered it direct from Emmons since I was working for a Emmons dealer. Would have been about 1977 0r 78. Nice little guitar...about $400.00 at the time. As I recall from the sales literature it was "endorsed" by Bobby Black. |

The Emmons Black Rock was a short lived S-10 that Ron Lashley intended to be better than his student model but not quite as slick as his S-10 pro model. The Black Rock had end-castings like the pro model. The fretboard set on a very thin wood neck, and it had a wooden pedal bar like the Emmons student model. These guitars are very collectable and I wouldn't hesitate for a minute buying one myself if it were available at the right price. Here's a picture of an Emmons Black Rock.
FYI: Emmons Guitar Company also tried another short lived project with the student model D-10. It only had 6 pedals and 1 knee lever. Al Marcus once owned one of the student model D-10's. [This message was edited by Nick Reed on 12 November 2006 at 08:32 PM.] |

I have a 78 Emmons Black Rock and I love it. Tommy Cass is now adding two more knee lever's to add the total to four. The Black Rock IMHO is a great little guitar with that great PP tone. I bought it on ebay about three years ago and I think I paid $900 for it but it is in mint condition. I keep it in my office at work so I can practice during the day when I get a break. At home I have a 79 Emmons D-10 which use to belong to Bill simmons and that one is also very close to being mint. At work I use a NV 400 which is now having the Ken Fox Mod upgrade and home I switch between A NV 1000 and a NV 112 (they both sound great)
If I were playing gig's I would take the Black Rock out with me without any hesitation.

Larry,
Gregg Lee in Nashville has a Emmons Blackrock for sale and tried several times to contact you. But he says you don't respond to his e-mails. His e-mail address is gguerreno@cecinc.com if you'd like to try contacting him. Nick |

I wouldn't mind having a Black Rock either. They look like pretty slick steels!

I think I still have a broshure around here for the Emmons Black Rock, it had a picture of Buddy Cage setting at one of them, I think it was a single neck.

No doubt, just about everyone would love to have one of those guitars. I know I would proud to have one in my music room.
