could any one tell me if you can still download the Guitar map program. I had it for year and just stuffed it up trying to transfer it to my laptop many thanks Dave  |

Thomas, you can make it work on an Intel-based Mac if you install "wine", the Windows emulator. The easiest version to install is probably "darwine", which you can get from here:

Installation is kind of a pain, but it goes like this:
- Download "guitarmap.exe" from the link given by Tom Mortensen. Create a new folder somewhere and save the file into it.
- Open the "Terminal" application or an xterm window so you can type commands.
- Type "cd X" where X is the name of the folder you created, starting from your home directory.
- Type "unzip guitarmap.exe".
- Type "wine setup.exe". You'll get what looks like a normal Windows installer, which you should use in the usual way.
- Now, to run the guitarmap program, you can type this:

from a Terminal or xterm window. There are ways to make it more convenient to run, but I'll spare you those details for now.
I should warn you that I have a slightly different version of wine -- not darwine. But I suspect the program will run under just about any recent version.

Just found this GuitarMap after doing a search for minor chord(s) positions on an E9.
As some of you know, I'm new to psg. This easy to use program makes it easier for me to understand the fretboard. Being able to change the copendent to fit my psg, makes a world of difference!
Too many pedals and knee levers for a newbie made it hard for me to "visualize" or "feel" where I'm suppose to go for the next note/chord, etc., without running up and down the neck like a crazy person. Going back to my standard notation days (a looooong time ago), and also when I was learning the NNS on 6 string. I knew learning the basic patterns for major scales was a must. However, until this program, I just couldn't "see patterns" on the psg. Now I "see it."
