I've heard a couple steel players play through a Webb 614E with 15" JBL, and IMO, the best steel sound I've ever heard. I've never heard the Steel King played through. Can the Steel King even come close to the Webb as far as tone?

| I have both Terry and, although I really like the Steel King, I cannot compare it to the Webb. The Webb is out there in a class to itself. |

Tom Bradshaw is the current owner of Webb Amplifiers. You can't beat doing business with Tom.

I've owned a Webb amp since 1974 (the same one) and it has the greatest tone to the bone of any amp I've owned.

| I beg to differ. I did a side by side comparison. The Steel King came within 90% of the Webb. I've played Webb for 10 years. The Steel King compares favorably. I've witnised the Steel King many times. Great amp. The Webb is better, but not so as much as I would not buy a Steel King. Others may have a different opinion. |

I have both amps and prefer the Webb by a very small margin. The Steel King can do most of what the Webb can do and it's a lot easier to dial in different tones.
The Webb reverb is 100% better than the Steel King's but if you use a lexicon or other fine reverb, that advantage goes away. My Webb 6-14-E is the original model, not the one that Tom recently sold. So if you are buying a Webb amp, you might want to consider any differences in sound there may be between the older and newer Webb models and how different speaker may affect that.
In any case, used amps like the Steel King and Nashville 400 are an absolute bargain for what they offer.

I am pretty sure that I'm right in saying that Tom has made his last Bradshaw 614E, although there may be something new in the pipeline should he have the energy and enthusiasm to do it.

I have to agree with Kevin Hatton's assesment on this. Both the Fender Steel King and Webb 614E are great amplifiers, with the Webb having a bit better sounding reverb. However, there is a considerable difference in price between these amps too. The Webb also has the capability of using an extension speaker, and can run down to 2ohms with no problems, (or at least that was the case with the older models.) But here again, you could use an extension speaker with the Steel King too, provided that you use 8ohm speakers.
Mike Sigler was playing through one of the new Tom Bradshaw Webb amps for a while, but I haven't had the opportunity to play through one of these yet.

First: My Webb amps weigh 50 pounds if purchased with the Eminence Kappalite neo, the speaker I prefer it to have.

| To be clear, the advantage that I find that the Webb has is in its FET circuitry. It has tube emulation. Its the closest thing to a tube amp that I've ever heard. Its also extremely well built. Weight is never a factor with me when I buy equipment. |

| I have a Steel King for sale and as far a tube imulation the Ken Fox modd in a Nashville 400 is as close as I've heard!!!! Incredible but Terry u already knew that didn't ya buddy u got one LOL |

| Head down to the Phoenix Show next week and check out the new Mullen/Telonics Combo Amp. Should have a prototype there. In production soon. They are extremely powerful 15" custom speaker and weigh in around 20 lbs I believe. And tone like no other. |
