I think the more accurate question would be "can I get internet access with an iPhone," and the answer would be "yes, for what is typically a monthly fee."

Then you can log on to the internet using the browser called Safari (which i am on right now, but on a desktop Mac computer), and bring up steelradio.

You can also get online with an iPhone or an iPod Touch on a WiFi network, like at McDonald's or a public library and lots of other places, mostly free.

Steelradio comes up in iTunes on a Mac computer when I click on the link to listen, but on my iPod that link isn't functional. Their site contains some major coding errors. A lot of websites these days use a separate style sheet for mobile devices, and that could be the problem.

I see how it works now. I listen to www.live365.com on my computer, but you need an app to get it to work on an iPod or iPhone. The app is free from the iTunes store, but there doesn't seem to be one for steelradio. Any iPod app developers reading this?

The live feed does not work on the iPhone in Safari, but I think all Shoutcast stations have that problem.

There are a bunch apps for the iPhone that are designed to get Shoutcast streams. I'm going to try Fstream (it's free) and let you know how it works out, unless someone beats me to it.

It's working nicely on Wi-Fi at least, although I did get disconnected once.

When you put in the name and URL, you can skip the format and bitrate part. You'll know what I mean if anyone tries it.

Thanks for the hint, John. I just got the SHOUTcast Radio app (free) from the iTunes store and it seems to work for steelradio. Had a lot of bad reviews, tho.

BTW, to the OP, you don't get to these streams from Safari, you get there from the apps, Live365 or SHOUTcast, and I guess fstream works the same way.

I've been listening to Shufflemania for half an hour on live365 on the iPod with the live365 app and it works great, no dropped connection or rebuffering. Just as good as on a regular computer. This is so kewl. Very Happy
