When I was in the National Guard in Montgomery, We had a dance and it was A Military Ball, with Generals and many big wigs present.Nan and I had been seeing each other often mostly at her house or the guitar studio, we spent every Saturday all day together, and of course I was present every sunday for dinner.
We ask her mom if she could go, Mom got her the Most beautifl Gown you ever saw, At least on her it was.Reluctuntly her dad let her go. My Mom and dad carried us there we had a great time bumping it to Generals on the dance floor and dsncing to the Greastest Voice you ever heard, He Sang High the Moon, Racing with the Moon, Mule Train, Red Saiols in the Sunset, If you haven't Guessed it yet it was Vaughn Monroe and his Orchastra Live. The day ended to soon, I carried her home and said goodnight.
Nan was 12 years old at the time. But was full growm in Statue. Our first real date was to see Eddie Arnold live in the same building the Ball was held in.
When we had the show in Montgomery last year across the street from the same building I remembered Nan Played on stage her steel guitar for the opening acts of the likes of Hank williams, and othe country acts that came to thew city autotorium.
Aint love grand???????
I know I should write in Wordperfect and spell check, but you can read enough to understand.

Speaking of Vaughn Monroe......... he used to be quite a scale model, HO Gage, model railroad hobbiest.
Did't he, at one time, feature some STEEL GUITAR PLAYER on some of his records? Anyone know who that steel player was?
Anyone with some audio clips. |

Running thro' my stacks of notes, facts., etc,I ran across some info' that you all should be interested in.
As stated above....the KNIGHT of TWEED did indeed record with Vaughn Monroe but I'd been hoping for some specifics.
JODY CARVER, my good friend, recorded TWO ALBUMS and a single-45 with Mr. Monroe. The single record was "STEL GUITAR"........
Per chance, does anyone out there in radio land or Forumville, have a copy of these that could be shared here on the Forum? That would be great! |

Jack
You are right about Ernie's grammar and spelling errors.
Though many of us on the Forum suffer from the same ailment. Some more than others.
Ernie is fun to be with and I enjoy his company and writings also.
Whatever they may be.
At his age and still going strong we need to give him a big applause.
See you on the 13th, Ern.
